What is the difference between MATCH and XMATCH?

Is there a reason to make a switch to XMATCH? Should I expect performance improvements if I make a switch?

The MATCH function:

older (compatibility advantage) and simpler syntax

The XMATCH function:

extra features such as last-to-first search, much better with next smaller (larger) matching

As far as I know, there are no noticeable differences in performance.
